Ending of self.

The ending of the self seems to be the beginning.

what a long confusing jaunt through the mists of delusion and confusion, to realise that all we thought was so important actually isn't.

It seems we only truly start becoming capable of real empathy when our attention is no longer rattling around the brain in it's endless corridors of self absorption.

The life of the people in our night time dreams do not end when we wake up.

A mirage does not end when it is seen as reflected light.

In actuality……neither ever existed.

It seems we only truly start becoming capable of real empathy when our attention is no longer rattling around the brain in it's endless corridors of self absorption.

"Empathy" requires conceptual separation.

Hi weallone. And welcome to our forum. And thank you for this insightful posting.

You mentioned:

Yes. This is also my sense of things. Empathy is real exactly to the extent that it frees itself from the projections of thought as duality and concept. I sense that this your message here. I hope I am right.

Empathy, care, love, charity etc. could be mere projections of thought, thereby becoming mere immitations of what thought believes these qualities are. But there is nothing suspect about the genuine article.

Others exist in our world. This is just the way things are. But 'others' does not imply fragmentation, as little as diversity is in conflict with wholeness. It is only when we experience diversity not as fundamentally separate, but as a fact of human experience, that we create the space necessary to relate to life in a meaningful, liberated and integral way. We cannot wish the world away. How we experience its diversity-aspect is one of the most fundamental questions we ould ever ask ourselves.
